Albert Beger,Was born in Turkey in 1959. Immigrated to Israel at the age
of 3. Since a young age, Albert was exposed to music and at the beginning
of the 70’s he took on the guitar and became involved with different Rock
ensembles.
During those years he was influenced by Alternative music and aspired
to create his music along those lines. Soon after, Albert discovered the
range and shades of notes that a flute can produce especially after he
listen to Ian Anderson’s music.
He started learning classical music with Uri Taplitz,
who was the first flute player with the Israeli Philharmonic Orchestra.
At the same time, along side his classical flute studies, Albert started
showing an interest in Jazz music and playing it.
All along with endless curiosity exploring the improvisation music that
fascinated him.
In 1985 Albert join the first year of the contemporary
music school “Rimon” and at the same time started playing the tenor saxophone
which became his main instrument.
In a later stage he added the soprano saxophone as well. Shortly after
he became involved with the Jazz scene in Tel Aviv of those years, following
John Coltrain, Sony Rollins, Ornet Colman, Eric Dolphy and moving on to
the free style Jazz.

In 1988 Albert received a full tuition grant from Berkley College in Boston,
and went there with his wife Anat.
In Berkley Albert specialised in performing, took some advanced courses
in composition, and studied saxophone with the legendary teacher Joe Viola,
who greatly influenced Albert’s music on the soprano sax. He also took
some lessons with George Garzon.
During his stay in the US, Albert learned improvisation with Charlie Banacos
and was involved in many projects on both parts: composing and performing
with the best musicians of that time.
While living in Boston, Albert travelled a lot to New York and was greatly
influenced by the new trends in music that took place at that time. All
this time in America Albert felt the need to go back home to Israel and
fulfill himself in his homeland and so in 1991 Albert finally returned
to Israel with his wife and first son.
Since then, Albert is residing in Moshav Dor on the Mediterranean costal
line, a father to three offsprings, creating and performing around the
world in festivals and special projects.
Since his first album in 1995, he recorded six more albums while cooperating
with the best musicians in Israel and the rest of the world. Musicians
such as, Harold Robin, Asaf Sirkis, Gabriel Meyer, John Bostock, Hagi
Fershtman, Roman Kontzman, Hammid Drake, William Parker, the composer
Eric Shapira and the list goes on.
Today, Albert is continuously creating and updating and constantly busy
with new projects.
In addition, since 2003 he teaches modules in Jazz music courses in the
University of Haifa, guiding improvisation workshops for teenagers, and
teaches sax and flute.
Albert’s music is influenced from the world and
environment around him, while the Jazz music is the basis to all this.
Furthermore, he combines and is influenced from Classical and Ethnic music,
and tunes which come from Nature and the Soul.
